About HKSL

The Hong Kong Speed League (HKSL) exists to address the hurdles new players face when

entering the sport of Airsoft. With limited, clear information available and most games being

privately hosted within exclusive social media groups, newcomers often find the process

intimidating. HKSL’s mission is to build a supportive and accessible community where players

can easily find games and events, and where like-minded players can get together, share

knowledge and experience, and grow as a well-knit community through training and friendly

competition.

Purpose

- Accessible platform: HKSL provides a central hub for players to discover events without needing to navigate exclusive groups.

- Beginner support: Clear, straightforward information helps new players feel confident as they start by providing the foundation blocks and harnessing their skills to progress up the ladder to competitive play.

- Community building: HKSL fosters inclusivity and growth in the Airsoft community by welcoming newcomers and providing a firm foundation for them to grow at their own pace, where players of the community share the same ethos with them to attract new audiences into the sport.

- Coaching services: Through the HKSL Academy, players receive coaching in “Speedsoft” Game format to learn fundamentals with 1-on-1 Coaching and training to prepare new players to thrive in the competitive world of this sport.

Partnerships

HKSL is proudly partnered with organisations that share its vision of growing and supporting the

Airsoft community.

Current Partners: HORMESIS | PRresults | Anthrax | EAG Airsoft

Game Play:

Each point begins at the buzzer with a set amount of game time (3 min, but can be adjusted);

Teams sprint from their start station, aiming to either

 Pressing the opposing team's buzzer, scoring a point

 Eliminate the entire opposing team and the team forfeits the point.

Victory in points is determined by the number of points scored at the end of the game timer, or

a team can win early with a point spread (mercy rule)

Scoring and Game timers are managed by an electronic system viewable online. Results are

documented online until a season winner is determined at the end of the year.

Scoring & Point capturing:

PBResults Scoring System

Connection & Setup

The RF receiver connects to a tablet via Bluetooth, running the PB Results app.

In the app’s Hardware section, the receiver must be activated.

Once connected, the system displays unique serial numbers for each device (base buttons, pit buttons, referee remote).

These serial numbers ensure secure pairing and prevent interference from unpaired devices..

Placement Rules

Base A and Pit Zone A: positioned on the left side of the scorekeeper’s table/tablet.

Base B and Pit Zone B: positioned on the right side.

Game Management

A new game can be started either:

Directly from the tablet game screen, or remotely using the referee remote.

The referee remote allows field-side control, enabling referees to manage the game flow without needing the tablet.

If the Base button(Base Button A or Base Button B) is pressed on either side, the game time will stop, and a point will be awarded to the side that tapped the buzzer first. Once the point has been approved by the marshal, it will be awarded to the winning side.

Tags will be mounted to the Pit Button (Pit Button A or Pit Button B) if tags are tapped against the indicated button while the game timer is active. The team that tagged the Pit Button will forfeit (White Flag/Surrender) the point, pause the game timer, and the opposing team will be awarded the point automatically.

If tags are tapped against the indicated button while there is an active break, the team that tagged the Pit Button will call a timeout and add an additional 1 minute to the break time. Each side will have one timeout per game.

Challounge Tournament bracket and point keeping System

Challonge is a highly popular online platform designed to simplify the process of organizing, hosting, and tracking competitive tournaments. Used heavily across esports, traditional sports, board games, and casual office or school events, it acts as an automated tournament manager and bracket generator.

Advanced Bracket Generation & Formats

The core feature of Challonge is its ability to instantly generate tournament structures based on a wide variety of competitive formats. Organizers don't need to manually calculate pairings; the site does it automatically for styles including:

 Single Elimination: A classic knockout format where a single loss eliminates a participant.

 Double Elimination: Provides a "Winners" and "Losers" bracket, giving players a second chance before official elimination.

 Round Robin / Swiss: Formats focused on maximizing playtime, ensuring competitors play multiple rounds against opponents of similar skill levels rather than immediate elimination.

 Two-Stage Tournaments: Allows complex structures like a World Cup—group stages (e.g., Round Robin) that smoothly transition into a final knockout stage (e.g., Single Elimination).

 Racing / Free-for-All: Built for Battle Royales, time trials, or multi-racer grand prix events.

 Participant & Seed Management

Challonge handles the logistical headache of dealing with competitors by offering robust management tools:

 Sign-Up Pages: Organizers can host public sign-up pages for players or teams to register themselves.

 Seeding Control: Competitors can be shuffled randomly, seeded manually by skill level, or automatically ranked using community metrics.

 Substitutions & Forfeits: If a player drops out at the last minute, the system allows hosts to substitute players mid-bracket without breaking the tournament structure.

 Real-Time Tournament Progression Once a tournament begins, Challonge acts as the live scoreboard:

 Match Management & Stations: Organizers can assign matches to specific "stations" (e.g., Table 4, Court B, Console 2) so players know exactly where to go.

 Live Score Reporting: As matches conclude, scores are input and the system instantly updates the entire bracket, advancing winners and populating the next round in real time. Tie-Breaks: The system calculates tie-break statistics using standard metrics (like points scored or the Median-Buchholz system for Swiss brackets).

 Hosting & Privacy Options

Challonge accommodates everything from major public esports events to casual family gatherings:

Public Visibility: Promotes discoverability, allowing fans to track the bracket live online.

Private Tournaments: Organizers can hide events from search engines and restrict bracket viewing exclusively to a select group of peers.

Paid Tournaments: Hosts can integrate entry fees to accept payments for venue costs, registration, or prize pools directly through the platform.

Future Updates

The HKSL calendar will be updated regularly with confirmed dates and additional events. Stay connected with the HKSL community page for announcements and registration details.
